I can't figure out how to pull a YouTube video in here, so as I'm running out the door to head up to San Francisco for the day, I'll leave you
this link. It's a video
Sparky made two years ago of the gang at Kickass Karaoke at The Rivoli in Toronto. You may recognize
a certain go-go-dress singing the B-52s. And a certain
Viking in a hockey jersey.

happy birthday, Sassy lady! Hope SF was gorgeous today and the hike was fabulous =)
Hey, happy birthday to YOU! A much happier year ahead, hopefully. Or at least less traumatic... :)
Sorry things have gone poorly Jack-wise of late, but on the up side you seem to have great friends, stylish boots, mad writing skillz (yes, with a "z" because them skillz are so gosh darn mad), and at least one lad (that's me) back in Toronto who looked at the clock and thought to himself, "hey, it's Sassday."
Ain't it neat that some guy whom you've never met just thought about you, wished you well, and walked all the way across his apartment (that's lots of steps, you know, like maybe even more than 20, so let's not underestimate my effort) to write a birthday message to you. (Did I mention it was lots of steps?)
So here I am wishing happy birthday to a smart and lettered gal (that's you) whom I admire but haven't met. That puts you in the same category as the likes of Dorothy Parker, and you have the decided advantage of not being the dead one of the two of you. So, you've got that going for you.
Which is all a long way of saying I hope the year to come will be as kickass as your karaoke. Happy birthday.

Be safe! And I'm looking forward to more stories upon your return!
